Band Course Offerings

Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band                                                                                                        The Academy’s Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band encourage students to grow as musicians by exploring a wide range of engaging repertoire. Emphasizing technical proficiency, musical expression, and teamwork, these ensembles perform at concerts, festivals, and community events.

Jazz Bands                                                                                                                                                          The Academy’s Jazz Bands immerse students in a variety of styles including swing, Latin, funk, and blues, while helping them develop technique, creativity, and improvisation skills. Through performances at concerts and festivals, these dynamic ensembles provide a high-energy, collaborative experience.

Choir Course Offerings

Concert Choir is open to any student who enjoys singing and wishes to sing as part of a team. This is a performance-based class, working on developing and improving vocal technique, breathing, tone production, and music literacy. 

Chamber Singers is a small, auditioned vocal ensemble for the experienced singer. This is a performance based class, working on developing the individual singer in various styles.

A Cappella is a year-long course designed for talented, experienced singers interested in a cappella pop and jazz styles. Singers in this group are expected to be confident and capable of singing by themselves. 

Orchestra Course Offerings

Sinfonia Orchestra is a non-auditioned, large string ensemble offered for secondary students. In this course, students develop musicianship and skills relevant to participating in a large ensemble.

Chamber Orchestra is the premier large string ensemble offered at The Academy. Students in Chamber Orchestra represent the best string students in the school. Musicians will continue to develop advanced musicianship, technique, and skills begun in prior large ensemble classes.

Guitar is a semester-long course designed for beginning and experienced guitar students alike. Students will learn how to read standard musical notation, chord diagrams, and tablature as well as gain experience in a variety of playing styles including finger-picking, pick technique, and strumming.
