Enrollment FAQs

The Academy is a public charter school; therefore, we do not charge tuition except for our Pre-K program. 

If you are successful in being selected in the Lottery, you will be informed that your student is Eligible For Enrollment. At that point, you will have THREE DAYS to complete and return the enrollment packet and required documents listed below.

If we do not receive your completed packet and required documents within the allotted three days, your spot will be offered to the next student on the lottery list and your student will be removed from our list.

Required Documents

• Student’s Immunization Records
• Parent/Guardian Photo I.D.
• 1 Form of Proof of Residency (Mortgage Statement, lease agreement, current utility bill or Property Tax Bill)
• Most Recent Report Card for Students Entering 6th-9th Grade
• Transcript for Students Entering 10th-12th Grade
• Pre-K: $100 non-refundable deposit. Money order only!

Requested Documents

• Verification of Legal Name and Birthdate (Birth Certificate, Passport or State-Issued ID)
• Most Recent Report Card for Students Entering 1st-5th Grade
• Attendance and Discipline Reports for Students Entering 6th-12th Grade
• Current Individualized Student Support Plans (IEP, 504 Plan, ALP, READ Plan, Behavior Intervention Plan, Academic Intervention Plan or English Language Development Plan)
• Legal Guardianship/Custody Paperwork (if applicable)

We do not have a public school transport system, so parents are required to provide transportation to and from school.  

Many of our parents have established carpooling systems that provide an excellent option to reduce the burden of daily trips. We also have an After School Care program for working parents that facilitates a later collection time.

Parents/Guardians must submit a lottery application each year when the lottery window is open.

The Lottery Window is October 1st - January 15th

Any applications submitted after January 15th will be added to the end of the waitlist in first-come, first-served order. Our waitlist is cleared each year on October 1st, and names do not get rolled over. If your child's lottery number is not selected, you will need to add them to the list again each following year on or after October 1st.

This will vary year to year and depending on grade level. The average is 100.

We will begin notifying families in February if their student was drawn in the lottery and is eligible for enrollment.

Students are not enrolled until the Eligible for Enrollment packet has been completed and submitted by the parents.

If a student is not offered a spot during the initial enrollment period, that student remains on the prioritized waitlist through October 1st of the following school year. Any student who applies after the January 15th lottery cutoff will be added to the end of the wait list in first-come, first-served order.

When an opening becomes available, we will offer the spot to the next person on the waitlist.

If a parent declines a spot, their student will be removed and they will have to re-apply if they change their minds. 

No. Students who are not selected by the lottery or are still on the wait list after October 1st will need to fill out the Lottery Application again to be included in the following year's lottery.

Names and information will not be rolled over to the next annual cycle. 

Once a student is enrolled at The Academy, their position in the school is secure, and they do not have to re-apply for a position the following year. 

Please note that there are two categories of candidates that are exempt from the lottery process but must still complete a lottery application:

1. Children of staff (application for enrollment occurs within 30 days of hire)
2. Siblings of current students (by family admission date)
