SRO Kelly Jacobsen elected as a NASRO Instructor

Senior Police Officer Kelly Jacobsen has been with the Westminster Police Department for 12 years and has been a school resource officer for seven years. Officer Jacobsen’s long standing, continuing commitment as a board member and leader of the Colorado Association of School Resource Officers reflects her professionalism and dedication.  Her daily service in Westminster schools is exemplary.

For the past two years Officer Jacobsen has been working to attain certification as school resource instructor for the National Association of School Resources Officers (NASRO).  Last week Officer Jacobsen was notified she had been selected as a NASRO Instructor.  NASRO only selects experienced SROs who have demonstrated exceptional skills as a school resource officer and in school resource officer education. NASRO Instructors train and support school-based law enforcement officers, school administrators, and school security/safety professionals working as partners to protect students, faculty and staff, and their school community.

Officer Jacobsen will now begin the process of completing her training over the next several months.

There are less than 65 total NASRO instructors throughout the United States.  Officer Jacobsen is the first Westminster Police Department school resource officer to be selected and the first female NASRO instructor in the State of Colorado.

We are proud of Officer Jacobsen and glad to have her as part of our team.
