Our History

The Academy is a free public, PK-12 school of choice located in Westminster, Colorado. We have been serving students and families for over 25 years. In 1994, we opened to pair a rigorous, content rich curriculum with character education to help our students achieve their highest standards in academics.

At The Academy all of our students are known, valued, and challenged to be their best.

Our first year opening enrollment was approximately 250 students. We have steadily grown since 1994 to the current school year, offering classes to approximately 1900 Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade students. Since The Academy’s founding, we have remained true to our mission and vision by effectively serving our students to develop college ready, exemplary citizens by promoting excellence in academics, character, and relationships.

As a charter school, we are a publicly funded, tuition free school (with the exception of Pre-Kindergarten) created by parents, teachers, and community members for the purpose of creating a distinctive school.

Character education and our six core values are integrated into everything we do at The Academy. We use the common language of Wildcat Pride: Respect, Responsibility, Courage, Self Control, Kindness, Integrity in speaking with students on a daily basis.

In 2011 we opened an additional Elementary campus to serve more families. The North Campus, located in Westminster, is just a short drive from our Main Campus. The North Campus houses our Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students. The Main Campus has 3rd-5th grade students as well as Middle School and High School.
