Our Vision
Our approach to vertically aligning the full educational experience for our students from youngest to oldest centers around three notions – Prepare, Explore, and Empower – that keep us grounded in The Academy’s mission and vision as we set priorities and make decisions that impact instruction and school culture.
Our Progress
The Academy's Board of Directors and Senior Admin Team track the school's progress toward key strategic goals using a scorecard for each of our Strategic Plan categories: Instruction, Culture, Finance, and Operations. Highlight on Explore: WILD
All students explore their strengths and passions through real-world learning
Elementary students have multiple opportunities throughout the year to explore their strengths and passions in less a traditional learning environment through the WILD program. WILD stands for: Working together, Investigation-focused, Learning differently, and Discovery-led. During a WILD experience, small groups of students leave their typical classroom to participate in investigative experiences that build their capacity to analyze problem-based learning scenarios, ask questions, grapple with challenges, fail, and ultimately persevere in order to build resilience and then apply new learning in authentic ways. Through these experiences, WILD is intended to help children discover their joy and passion for life-long learning that will drive success in college and career. The photos below show a Lower Elementary WILD project in which students were challenged to build and test their own hot air ballons.
Highlight on Empower: High School Student Council
For its exemplary record of leadership, service, and activities that improve the school and community, the Academy student council was been recognized as a 2024 National Gold Council of Excellence by the National Association of Student Councils (NASC).
The Academy High School Student Council has helped develop student leaders, put on multiple school-wide events, and raised thousands of dollars for charities in the past year. “Receiving a National Gold Council of Excellence Award reflects the amazing dedication of the students and school to make their community a better place,” said NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe. “The Academy has gone above and beyond in elevating student voice to ensure they are establishing a positive climate and culture, as well as fostering academic and social growth for all.”
